Understanding the objective of any project and ensuring clarity between client and creator is always the first priority. A lot can be lost in even these early stages of the process and taking the time to understand the overarching end goal makes the rest of the project far smoother.
every project has its limitations. What is the budget? what is the timeline? how many stakeholders are involved? understanding all the facts give the best chance of delivering the best outcomes, and what's the excitement of any project without a healthy dose of challenge?
It goes without saying, we all rely on inspiration to guide us to the north star. funny how visuals inform visuals. beyond searching for content, this phase also includes collecting raw materials already available and goes along with the prior stage. what materials do we have already? what is a must-have, non negotiable?
The creative process by default is one that strives for perfection. this phase involves iteration. drafts are proposed, feedback is given...that is always how it goes. the beauty of design isn't just in the end result, but in the painstaking work that it takes to drill down to its simplest form.
which leads us to the answer to the question why logos are so expensive? it takes a lot of work to drill a small icon into its simplest form...and that icon needs to say a heck of a lot. while perfection is the enemy, it remains the destination. ultimately we finalize the project to a place of satisfaction.
